Based in Icheon, a city long recognised for its ceramic heritage, Jang Hun Seong works at the intersection of Korean and Japanese pottery traditions, continually exploring a distinctly Korean expression in contemporary ceramics.
One of the defining characteristic of his practice is the use of Hoeryong glaze, developed from rice straw ash that he personally collects and processes. It is applied as a second layer over glazed surfaces, flowing naturally during firing to create his signature soft marbling effect.
His works are also featured and used in Michelin-level dining environments.
