Founded by Hiroya Ishida in Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Takimuro Kiln is rooted in the vast Aso caldera landscape. Trained in Kyoto, Ishida blends wheel-throwing and slab-building to craft polygonal, floral and elliptical vessels that reveal his precision and artistry.
Working with both porcelain and earthenware, he develops ash-based glazes such as lapis lazuli, celadon, iron, and green, achieving a distinct harmony of form and surface. Inspired by nature, ancient pottery, textiles and architecture, his works reflect technical mastery and quiet reverence for history, bringing refined elegance to everyday and special occasions alike.
